Brittney was born and raised in rural Iowa in the small town of Calamus (population 400 when you count the cats and dogs.)

She was known as a “born performer” who would sing and dance to the jukebox at the pizza joint as a preschooler.  As an only child Brittney spent plenty of time with her parents and their friends. She often found it more comfortable to talk with adults than her peers- discussing things like church issues and politics.

Church was a huge part of Brittney’s upbringing. Her family joined a start-up church that met in an elementary school and she eventually married in that same church 17 years later (with the same pastor!) Brittney and her husband Andrew met at Trinity International University in suburban Chicago. Ironically they both made commitments to Christ at the age of five. They have lived on both coasts and the Midwest since they married in 1996. Interestingly enough, they are now a part of a start-up church (also meeting at an elementary school) with their own children- Lindsey, 12 and Micah, 6.

Tragedy has hit Brittney’s family in significant and personal ways that have made her thankful for her idyllic upbringing- and caused her to dig deep in her faith. She has also turned pain into action. In an ideal world Brittney would like to live in Bedford Falls (next to the Baileys) from her favorite movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”  She loves to sip “gas station” cappuccino, eat flourless (gluten-free) chocolate cake, talk with friends, shop for deals, waste time on Facebook,  and read books about getting organized- that for some reason do NOT include a magic wand!
